Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders has confirmed that El Hadji Diouf is set to leave the club, and in doing so adds fuel to the fire over a possible move to Leeds United.
The 31-year-old Senegalese international signed an 18 month contract back in January. However he has clauses in his deal which allows Diouf to leave the recently relegated Yorkshire side.
In his interview with Skysports, Saunders admitted that Diouf was 'difficult' to manage.
"He scored six goals, got 12 assists and I think probably six of those were on Billy's head in the six-yard box. Obviously Billy's got a knack of finding space in the box. He's a class player, not easy to manage off the pitch, but I only had him for five months and the clauses in his contract are for the Championship, so I think he'll probably be going to another club, whether it's Leeds or somewhere else."
Last Thurday I made my feelings pretty clear about Diouf. I don't believe signing him will create that unity that Warnock desires. I could rant all day about him as a man, but those in favour are correct when they say he can play football.
The rumours will circle and circle until for a few weeks yet, but the Championship beckons for the former Bolton man...the question is will Elland Road be his destination?
